At the end of his “Better Know a District” segment with Congresswoman Jackie Speier of the California 12th, the pair decided to make a YouTube video because the company is headquartered in Speier’s district. Colbert, who is a man of many hidden talents, turns out to be a pretty good skateboarder. The pair hopped on and sped away, but the fun didn’t stop there. Representatives Jim McGovern and Patrick Kennedy also got in on the action. Fortunately, Stephen didn’t break his neck while attempting his stair trick. (Skateboarding begins 5:20 into the clip.)

Last Tuesday’s episode of the Colbert Report (November 17th) featured the segment Better Know a District, with California’s 12th which encompasses San Francisco and the headquarters of You Tube. At the end of the segment he asks Representative Jackie Speier to make a You Tube video, consisting of some skateboarding through the halls of the office building. I didn’t catch this on TV, so I can’t tell if there’s a stunt double or not, but my immediate judgement tells me Stephen has spent some time on the old stuntwood. After proving once again he's a better wordsmith than most of the people that run America, Comedy Central funnyman Stephen Colbert shedded the halls of Congress. He even got a few members of Congress to join in. The rad things about this clip are: well obviously he's skating the halls that run America, he's riding a Toy Machine deck (Yeah Ed from Huntington to Washington) and he attempts to roll down a pretty big set of stairs.
